Many students get completely frightened when they face exams to the extent that they experience what is known as exam blackout. They may have studied hard but when the time comes to sitting for the exam, they unexpectedly get anxious and do not score good grades in the exams. The key to succeed in any exam is that studying hard alone will not do. You have to have high self esteem. If you have a high self esteem, absolutely nothing will prevent you from succeeding.

Students sometimes think that the person sitting for the exam is their enemy. This is far from being true. The first part of passing the exam is dropping this state of mind. Get rid of the prejudice that you cannot make it. Actually, the opposite is true, you can succeed and pass with flying colors if your mind is focused. Do not think badly of yourself; you are a success .

Other than believing in your capability to pass the exam, you need to have a good study plan. Believing in yourself alone is great but is not enough. If you did not prepare well, your chances of succeeding will be limited. The first thing you need to do is have a good study plan. Identify the subjects that you find difficult and allocate more time to them. If you find math to be difficult, spend extra time solving math problems than you do studying literature. However, this does not mean that you need to ignore the easier subjects.

Plan your studies weeks ahead of the exams. As an example, you can start studying several weeks before the scheduled date. This will let you have plenty of time revising on difficult areas. It is important to start preparing early rather than beginning your studies just when the exam is approaching.

In addition to preparing for the exam, you need to be active in class. Do not be shay asking questions. Even if the question might appear trivial, ask it anyway. Doing so will gain you confidence and you will be more calm when you study.

You can succeed. Remember you must not neglect your homework. The work assigned to you tests your grasp of the concepts taught in class and allows you to improve by practice. Therefore, you need to always do your homework. Some times you might be tempted to copy from a fellow students, resist the temptation. Do as much as you can on your own and ask for help when you cannot understand the assignment.

Most students fail exams because they tend to become anxious one day ahead of the exam. This is the worst possible time to be worried, instead find some relaxing activity and go over your revision. On the night before the exam, make sure to get good sleep. When the day for sitting for the exam finally comes, arrive early, be confident, believe in yourself, you can do it.
