Ways to clean asparagus
There are many ways to clean the asparagus. Asparagus grows in the muddy areas where the sand is wet most of the time. So they catch the sand on their leaves and the side of stem that is nearer to the roots. Most people just wash the leaves of asparagus in cold water when the stem is not muddy enough. But in the cases when there is some sand stuck to the leaves, it is a wise act to wash the leaves with hot water and remove some portion of the stem which is nearer to the roots.
Peeling the asparagus is not a common act amongst asparagus eaters because there are small leaves only and those are eaten with the stem. Only the harder ends are removed carefully with a knife and are commonly stored for soup making. Asparagus is also available in the markets in packets which are fresh as well as cleaned. There is no need of cleaning them and people prefer them on dirty asparagus. Asparagus is exceptionally cheap in cost in countries like America and European countries.
