When the unsub sees that Kelsey is under protective custody, he lets Timmy go in a bar. Timmy tells the team that he talked to the unsub on the phone, and that's how they met. She then asks Rossi for help in ending her life when the symptoms grow too unbearable. Cramer accuses Morgan of not ordering the shot because he wanted Ian Doyle to suffer for killing Prentiss. Professor Walker informs the BAU team that he is nearly finished writing a book on the topic - the only book to be written on the subject. The meeting is cut short with the news that Jimmy Mercado has been found dead. It appears the killer is seeking out the people who had spoken with the FBI. Two newlyweds go on a murderous rampage through Montana and the BAU is called in to stop them. The couple appears to be alcoholics who are working through a twisted version of AA's Twelve Step program. Prentiss arrives home and removes a file folder and several passports from the safe in her bedroom. As she reviews the redacted document, her cat jumps on her lap and is wet. Frightened that someone might be inside she grabs her gun and searches her apartment and finds an open window. He's getting rid of any evidence by submerging the bodies in methanol. Someone will remember a confrontation with him. Just as they finish, they receive news of another body.
She thinks Morgan put him up to it, but he just wants to go see the movie. She passes and says she's just going to hang out with her cat. She removes the file from her safe before going to open the box. Inside is a single lavender flower. Chief Barrows had brought in a suspect named Lyle, Molly's former boyfriend, for questioning. Lyle denies knowing Gail or abducting Molly. Lyle tells him that Molly began seeing someone else and her persona had changed. Molly uses a chair for support and Jane asks about her positivity spectrum. Jane yells at her about Lyle and storms out, saying she is finished with talking.
The platforms are crowded on the Red Line of the DC Metro. Emily Prentiss rides down the escalator with other rush-hour travelers, the exhaustion of the past few weeks catching up with her. Reid tells the group that the Fagans were found dead in the bedroom from a supposed gas leak. Rossi, looking at the damage to the home, is still confused as to why such a huge gas leak that caused a house to explode hasn't been on the front page. Garcia frowns as she watches the agent walk quickly away. The back doors of a plain blue van are open, and one man stuffs a duffle bag with automatic weapons and a stack of plain white masks. Reid finds something in the phone numbers and stands, turning to her. "You coming?" She smiles and makes an excuse and watches him hurry off. Prentiss sits at her desk, slides her top drawer open and seems to search for something inside before she joins the team in the conference room. Whoever is next on the hit list must have warned Byron Delaney. Garcia waits in a DC coffee shop until journalist Jed Hastings sits and takes out a book to read. She approaches him, telling him that she's just finished the book and the ending is "so sad." The team gathers around him, looking over his shoulder, waiting. Hotch tells Seaver to release the gunman's photo to the press and she gets on the phone. Garcia marches in, revealing her findings since she 'followed the money.
Rossi and Hotch stand at the evidence board and Rossi grumbles that Erin Strauss will be getting her hands into this mess as soon as she hears about it. Hotch is grateful that she's on vacation. Rossi claims she'll never take one again. At the BAU, Garcia enhances the images, focusing on a road sign written in Korean. Prentiss identifies the names as towns in North Korea. Prentiss recognizes one name - Haengyong-ni - as the location of a notorious political prison. Rossi and Hotchner are professional, solid, upright men, intent on their job. Morgan looks back at her with his eyebrows raised, asking if she's okay before facing front again. Prentiss' eyes fill. She looks to Reid, who sits atop his desk, leaning forward, hair a mess. At The Black Shamrock, Prentiss fires her gun at Doyle's car and leaves a grenade inside. However, Doyle knew she would be there and was waiting. He shoots back and captures her. He takes her to the cellar where he ties her up and tattoos a four-leaf clover on her chest. The housekeeper had posed as Declan's mother to protect the child, so no one could use him against Doyle. Doyle shows Prentiss where Declan had died. Prentiss admits the photo that shows Declan and the housekeeper dead was staged.
Since today's date seems important to the woman, Garcia starts to research accidents that occurred on the date. She uncovers a car accident in which the woman's car was involved in the aftermath of a car chase. Her son had died and the date also happens to be his birthday. Garcia pitches in to help determine who else could being killing young women. She finds a connection between the girls and a man at their church. Robert Bremmer lost his wife and step-daughter when his mentally unstable wife drove into a lake and drowned them both because she wanted to keep the daughter away from the abusive Bremmer. When the team returns to the office to discuss the case, no one says they want to leave the unit. Privately, Kevin asks Garcia to think about retiring to the country. Hotch tells everyone to go home, then he leaves. Rossi enters his office to find JJ waiting. After he asks her if she'd considered when they had discussed, she tells him she wants to come back.
